Why AI projects never reach production
Consulting, software, agency, raw AI: four usual answers, and the same reason none of them closes the gap.
When the gap widens between what you aimed at and what you get, four answers present themselves. Each has its logic. None closes the gap, and for different reasons.
Consulting: a paper loop
Consulting makes a diagnosis, delivers a plan, then leaves. When the plan does not work, it sells another one: a new diagnosis to explain the failure, a recommendation on top of the previous one.
You pay to understand why it failed, then you pay for what comes next, which might fail too. It is a loop turning above the ground without ever coming down to it.
Software: one more load
Software promises to execute. But you have to configure it, feed it and drive it yourself. The promise is real; it simply rests on time your teams do not have.
A few months later the gap is not closed: a load has been added. And the tool ends up judged on what it did not do by itself.
The agency: a task in a silo
An agency executes, which is already a lot. But it executes one task, one campaign, with no overall view and no memory. Every assignment starts from zero.
What was learned last quarter does not serve the next one, because nothing keeps it.
Raw AI: fast, but blind
Artificial intelligence executes fast. Without the judgement that would say whether you are heading the right way, it accelerates just as well in the wrong one.
It is the modern version of the same problem: power without discernment, and nobody answering for the result.
What the four have in common
Put these failures end to end and the answer draws itself.
You need someone who operates, not only advises. Who combines the judgement of the expert and the power of the machine, not one without the other. Who works continuously and end to end, not in fits and starts inside a silo.
Who measures finely enough to know whether the gap comes from the path or the execution. And who learns from their own actions, instead of starting over every time.
